Springerle Cookies

Quite possibly the best in the world

Growing up one of my favorite memories was the smell of my grandma’s kitchen when she was making Springerles. Since moving to Oklahoma I have been looking for somewhere I could buy a piece of my history. Then I found Kaycee and Leckere Kekse. I have to say the Springerles were the best I’ve had in over 40 years. My wife loves the lemon while I prefer the traditional anise flavored. Taste is one thing, but Kaycee has taken it to the next level. Definitely a work of art and a labor of love Highly recommend.

As a career Pastry Chef of 29 years, in some of the greatest culinary cities in the US (NYC, Las Vegas, San Francisco) I don’t review other people’s work lightly. I can’t recommend the Springerle cookies from Leckere Kekse highly enough!! The embossed designs are special, and the white on white look is so elegant! I got a dozen of the Amaretto flavor, and they were light and fluffy, a firm exterior that has a center with a soft chew sort of like a Macaron. These cookies take a lot of time, technique, and attention to detail, and Kaycee nails it! Bravo!!!

These cookies are just as delicious as they are beautiful! Seriously, when I first saw these I thought they were some kind of decorative decor of some kind—they’re literally little masterpieces in cookie form.

Gorgeous, decadent, and unique. I most definitely will be recommending Leckere Kekse for anyone looking for a tasty and one of a kind experience!

history of springerle

History of Springerle

Springerle cookies have been baked in Germany at Christmas time since the 1300’s. Their name means “little jumpers” because they rise or jump up in a heated oven creating their signature foot.

Our Springerle

Flavors:

Traditional Anise

Lemon

Amaretto

Pumpkin Spice

Our unique 3-day creation process results in a beautifully detailed crisp top with a chewy inside. And if you enjoy aged Springerle like Oma used to make (hard enough to chip a tooth!), allow our cookies to age for a few weeks, then dunk them in a hot beverage.

Meaning of Leckere Kekse

Leckere Kekse translates from German to English as Delicious Cookies. While our cookies are no doubt very beautiful, we’re most pleased that they are known for being delicious!

What do Springerle cookies taste like? They’re different from shortbread, butter cookies, and sugar cookies. There’s really nothing quite like a Springerle. You’ll have to try them to know!

Our Story

The short, easy story is that I have always loved baking and cooking. Our active-duty US Air Force assignment in Germany instilled in us a love of culture, tradition, and art which we now gratefully pass along to you in these cookies. One of my favorite things about baking German cookies is the memories it brings back for so many people who enjoyed these cookies as children.

The full story: When I first saw photos of Springerle cookies I was in awe! I knew that I just had to learn to make them. After many hours of researching, testing, failing, troubleshooting, trying again, and eventually mastering them, I felt very satisfied. When friends saw and tasted my work they said that I should start a business, but I definitely did not want to. I knew how to make cookies, but I did not know how to run a business, and the thought of doing it scared me.

So why then did I start a business? One reason – As a mother of teenagers, I am one of the foremost examples my children look to as they form their concepts of themselves and the world. I would never want “fear of the unknown” to hold my children back. I knew that if I didn’t start a cookie business because I was scared, I would not be setting an example that I was pleased with. I’ve now overcome {most of my} fear and I am grateful that a centuries-old cookie has connected me with people I never would have met otherwise! I hope my children will always have confidence that they can learn to do anything they want to!
